Bead by Bead

I broke my mala beads well over a year ago.

After letting the beads languish in a box in a cupboard in the corner of my room for an age, I have finally, lovingly restrung the beads, one by one, tying a tiny knot between each. The whole process took focus, care and time: about 2.5-3 hours, plus some pauses in between.

Bead by bead, bit by bit.

It reminded me, amidst the often quick-fix rhythms of our times, that this is how the creative process of growing something goes: bead by bead, bit by bit, one step, then the next.
