In summer 2022, Alice created, coordinated and delivered a series of free wild writing walks in community. These free events were funded by the Nature Arts and Wellbeing Fund, in partnership with Step into Nature and writing agency ArtfulScribe, with two women’s walks being delivered in partnership with community organisation Grace the Space. The hikes at Lulworth Cove and Cerne Abbas were delivered in collaboration with qualified walking guide Lisa Phaure of Back Pack and Boots.
Each event was designed to offer accessible creative writing practices that invited and cultivated an embodied approach to creative writing in nature – as opposed to a solely intellectual/head-based approach. The sessions invited writers to create using their senses, including intuition, and to sense themselves as nature, not separate to the environments the groups walked in.
The sessions were joyful – a celebration of nature, creativity and diverse community thanks to the community partnerships fostered.
