Join us for the second in a two-part series designed to support you in empowering yourself as you cultivate strength and resiliency at the level of body, heart and mind.
This is a practical session inviting you to experience and develop your own strength and inner security. We will work with a variety of the following tools that can then be used as resources in daily life:
- Strengthening – consciously working with yoga postures to strengthen the legs, glutes, and pelvic floor.
- Flexibility – increasing mobility of the thoracic and lumbar spine.
- Enlivening the energy centres of the lower body relating to our sense of groundedness, security, belonging and capacity to flow with life, and to meet and express emotions, along with the energy centre of the heart space.
- Somatic release work – unwinding tension in the body.
- Bringing balance to the nervous system – learning simple techniques to shift from ‘flight or fight’ into the parasympathetic ‘rest and digest’ nervous system.
- Organic movement
During the workshop there will be time for silent personal reflection as well as the optional opportunity to share in a group. We will explore our resiliency resources and practices that guide us to the deepest resource: resting in, and as, the vibrancy of our being.
This course is for anyone wanting to cultivate a sense of physical strength and vitality, explore blocks and conditioning held around notions of strength and vulnerability as strength. It is for those who want to develop their capacity to hold space for themselves and their emotions or to step out of the role of victim. It is for those who may find strength in learning how to receive and speak their needs, or for those learning, perhaps for the first time, how to meet their own inner needs rather than always seeking outside of oneself.
In this second session, we will focus on working with the heart space as a transformative and a potent field from which we can meet all that arises in our experience. This work will be experiential.
It is recommended to attend the first workshop in this series, though not essential, in order to bring a further embodied deepening to the work and accountability to your practice.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the session starts to settle and set your space. There is limited free car parking available on site.
What to bring and wear:
Please bring a journal, pen or pencil and water bottle. The studio has mats, blankets and bolsters available to borrow, or you are welcome to bring your own if preferable.
